A Message from Mrs. Cortez

 
 
    Dear students, parents and community of Santo Niño Elementary, 

    As we start the second part of the school year, we start preparing for the state assessments and plan our extended day and extended week tutorials.  We will be having tutorials Monday through Thursday beginning January 23, 2012 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. for selected students in grades Kinder through 5th grade.  Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will start the extended tutorials  from 3:30-4:30 Monday through Thursday beginning on Monday, February 7, 2012 .  Our Saturday tutorials will start on February 4 from 8:00-12:00 for our 4th and 5th grade students and on February 25 for our 3rd grade students.  We will be sending out permission forms for those students needing to stay for tutorials.  We kindly ask for your cooperation by sending your child to the assigned tutorial sessions. As you all know, this year we face new challenges with a new state assessment.  The STAAR test is a more rigorous and timed test. We believe that with your help, we can prepare our students for these new challenges.
