The Laredo Independent School District had a day of remembrance to honor all fallen war heroes, Prisoners of War (POW), and Missing in Action (MIA). Memorial Middle School students and the Martin High School ROTC participated in a Roll Call of all fallen American Heroes, from the Laredo area, POW, and MIA, followed by the playing of “TAPS” by retired LISD music teacher Bobby Lopez. The Webb County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard conducted a 21 Gun Salute. A wreath was placed in memory of the fallen soldiers. Also, a commemorative plaque was unveiled remembering six brave young men who attended St. Joseph’s Academy, joined the military, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Major Robert Kibbe, Assistant Profession of Military Science at Texas A&M University at Kingsville was the guest speaker.

For graduating seniors and students not returning to Memorial next year. Return Dates: May 19–21, 2025. Devices will be collected by tech staff. Bring Chromebook and charger. All devices must be returned by May 21. If lost, a police report is required to clear the student.

Over 500 LISD student-athletes from Cigarroa, Martin and Nixon High Schools, and Cigarroa, Lamar, Memorial, and Christen Middle Schools were honored with a Bronze, Silver or Gold Medal for their perfect attendance, A Honor Roll, and positive attitude. The Triple “A” award is designed to encourage LISD student-athletes in developing strong academic skills, positive behaviors as role models, and the ability to demonstrate a positive attitude.

Laredo ISD releases students at Memorial Middle School Students at Memorial Middle School are being released today at 1:00 p.m., due to a water leak in a section of the school. The LISD Child Nutrition Program is providing lunch for all students. The LISD Transportation Department is providing busses for students who normally rely on this service. Parents are asked to pick up their children at 1:00 p.m. Students are expected back in school tomorrow, Tuesday, March 25, as regularly scheduled. LISD custodial and maintenance staff are currently drying the impacted classrooms and preparing the facilities for tomorrow. The safety, security, and comfort of students and staff are paramount to LISD’s efforts and resources. For more information, please contact the LISD Office of Communications at 956-273-1730.

Dear Parents and Guardians, We would like to inform you that there has been a water leak at Memorial Middle School. The issue has been contained, and the situation is currently being assessed by district personnel to ensure the safety and comfort of all students and staff.
